Correlating two range, need to adjust one range first

I need to correlate Column A with Column C, but first I'd like to adjust the numbers Column A with a COUNTIF on Column B. So if Column B is >5 I'm adjusting Column A up a point.

This is large sheet so I'm unable to just make helper columns for everything. Here's my blunt attempt but it does not adjust Column A. Any solutions?

    =ArrayFormula(CORREL(A2:A+COUNTIF(B2:B,">5"),C2:C))

Added a very basic sheet. I hope it's clear what I'm asking.

which you may need to commit to the sheet with Ctrl+Shift+Enter rather than plain Enter depending on your version of Excel.

    Are you using Google Sheets?
