    Specific Seasonals - MULTIPLICATIVE

    Hi!

I would like to know if there is a function to rearrange my specific seasonal from the first attached photo to the second attached photo? Or do we have to do it manually?

I'm asking in term of large datasets being given and needed to be sorted out by the year and quarters.

    Thank you!

    Re: Specific Seasonals - MULTIPLICATIVE

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

    Re: Specific Seasonals - MULTIPLICATIVE

Hi Alan, sorry! I have attached the file of my excel sheet.

I want to rearrange the data from column G with their respective years and quarters into the new table from O1 to S7. Previously I have done it manually, but is there a function that I could use since I am dealing with much larger datasets.

    Thank you

With Power Query, here is the Mcode

Please Login or Register to view this content.
Power Query is a free AddIn for Excel 2010 and 2013, and is built-in functionality from Excel 2016 onwards (where it is referred to as "Get & Transform Data").

It is a powerful yet simple way of getting, changing and using data from a broad variety of sources, creating steps which may be easily repeated and refreshed. I strongly recommend learning how to use Power Query - it's among the most powerful functionalities of Excel.
