How to color cells based on previous cell value?

Hi all,

Beginner at Excel so this is a very simple question; how do I color a cell in red or green based on the value of the cell above? For example, if the cell above is 600 and then one below is 500, I'd like to highlight 500 in red. I would also like to do this on a mass scale so not just a one-off formula for 2 cells.

Select, say, A2:Z100. Click on Conditional Formatting and pick the Formula option. Then use the formula: =A2<A1 and pick a format colour.
