How to merge content from two cells into another for a range of cells?

I'm trying to combine text into one cell, but for an entire column. Right now I have to add the 'combine' formula one at a time for each cell that needs combined content. How do I make that formula work for each cell in an entire column?

For reference, I'm currently using this: =B2&"_"&C2&".tif"

But again, each new cell has to change from B2 to B3 and C2 to C3 and so on for hundreds of cells. What am I missing?

What video? and why merged cells?

is there a specific reason you need merged cells?

Do you have an example worksheet?

I updated my description since the forum won't let me post links yet.

I might not be using the correct terminology.

I need a first name and last name from two other cells combined in a specific way into a third cell. I have that figured out. The problem is I have hundreds of these names and it will take forever to add the function to each cell with the correct cell number references for each one. How do I get that function to ripple down the entire column?

Well it sounds like you just need to hover your mouse over the lower right corner of the cell with the formula until you get a "skinny cross/plus sign"

Double click on that and it will auto fill the formula to where the data stops (you can do a drag to where you want it to stop too.. double click is faster but manual works)

If that doesn't work, you will need to upload an example of the workbook as we are working blind and making assumptions.

There is a Yellow banner "HOW TO ATTACH YOUR SAMPLE WORKBOOK" at the top that explains how to attached a workbook to your post (there is no waiting period to attach files).
