Post Auto Complete Names in a sheet

I have a list of approximately 70 names. I need to complete a simple form by adding names from the list of 70. I would like to be able to start typing the first few letters of a name and the rest of the name auto complete. The form can list up to 30 names. I would prefer not to use a drop down, as there are too many names. The ideal option would be similar to what google does when you start typing something in the search engine, e.g. gives options that match what has been typed and continues to offer more narrow options as you continue typing.

Please let me know if I need to provide more information.

    Click in column A - A2 down.
Although this is a basic combo dropdown - it filters as you type and the result transfers to the active cell.

torachan this is great! And very much appreciated! However, I have one question.

Does Excel allow a way to do the same thing without using the "UserForm1" basic combo dropdown? For example, the user would type directly into a cell in column A and the workbook perform the same way it does in the "UserForm1" basic combo dropdown.

Please let me know if that doesn't make sense. I'll be happy to elaborate further if needed.

Re: Auto Complete Names in a sheet

There are methods documented on the web - all appear to use the data validation coupled with the inbuilt 'auto-complete' function.
To my mind they are messy and a compromise - maintaining and extending formula is alien to me - a tool needs minimum maintenance to be efficient.
The compromise that I have not figured out - why does 'auto-complete' take several entries before it recognises a word from a validation list.
Search through the net, the answers are there although I would not use them out of preference.

Understood. I scoured the web searching for a way, and found exactly what you mentioned regarding the auto-complete and data validation. Your solution will work great until there is a more manageable solution. I appreciate your expertise and patience. Thank you very much!
