    Creating a static vlookup formula

    Hi,

I am wondering if there is a way to create a static vlookup formula in the attached file. I attempted to create this formula in the cells that are highlighted but it appears I can't do this the same way as the usual vlookup formula since this only works when the column reference is equal to that same value (i.e. EE is first so it only works for Employee).

Any assistance with this is greatly appreciated!

    Thank you.

    Hi there,

You're using the following formula in your workbook:

A VERTICAL lookup is performed on the first COLUMN of the range specified, but (as far as I am aware), the array parameter you are using {"EE","CH","SP","Employee","Child","Spouse"} will be interpreted as a ROW.

Using a HORIZONTAL lookup would seem to be more appropriate in this case, i.e.:

    Hope this helps.

Thank you, this did help. I was actually trying to produce the full name in that column so I updated the formula to:

    Formula: copy to clipboard
