    Date difference

I have a column in which all cells have the date format, however, when I try to use the filter on this column, the dates show as follows:

    - 2035
    - 2022
    - 2021
    - 01/03/2023
    - 01/10/2022
    - 10/14/2022
    - 01/20/2023

Why are the 2023 and 2022 dates not being grouped by year? what do I need to do for them to be grouped?

    Thanks!!!Screenshot 2021-05-24 082658.png

    Re: Date difference

These entries will be text, NOT real dates. Change their format to general and if they are real dates, they will change to a 5-digit serial number.

    Re: Date difference

Probably these are not dates but text which just look like a date. Try to spot this value - 01/03/2023 (you may use filter :-) ) and change it's format to general. If it still looks like a date, it's text if it becomes a number (fourty some thousand then you have a date.

to change these to real dates you may try text-to-columns tool from data ribbon (data tools group) use constant width and set first column as MDY date type

    Re: Date difference

Thanks for your quick reply!!! I changed the format to General, and they remain the same, so they're not real dates. How can I change them without having to go one-by-one
