Pasting data in unprotected cell of protected worksheet

Hi,

I am having an excel sheet where I have created a table. In the table some of the columns are protected and some unprotected.

I am trying to copy and paste data from another excel into the unprotected columns. But the paste is not working. The data copied is not pasted in the unprotected cells of the protected worksheet. However, I am able to enter the data manually.

Can anyone please help?

Does it give you an error when you try and paste or when you paste just nothing happens?
Are you trying to paste as values or paste formula or anything like that?

When I copy and paste the data, nothing happens. There is no error. It behaves as if I am pasting blank cells.

Also, I am not copying and pasting the formulas. It is just plain text data. And I am copying and pasting normally and not using paste as values or paste formulas.

Yes, I checked all that. No Macros are there in the sheet. Also, the select Unlocked cells are checked.

Can it happen if the sheet I am copying the information from has macros enabled and due to that the copy paste is behaving like this.

Yes. If the sheet has an event macro which triggers a calculation, the clipboard will be lost, or if it formats any cells.

Check to see if the 'marching ants' disappear. This will indicate the clipboard is lost.

Actually the sheet from where I was copying the data from was have event macro, which was creating the problem. I took a fresh spreadsheet and copied and pasted the data from there and it worked fine.
