conditional formatting an overriden formula cell

i would like to create conditional formatting that highlights if a cell is overridden. i am aware of the isformula idea which is great if someone hardcodes a formula cell, but i would also like it to identify if someone adds a suffix to a formula ["=sum(b6:d6)+5"] where the "+5" was tacked on to "override" the formula. in this case the isformula idea fails. any ideas on how to circumvent this?
in the attached example, a6 should be highlighted in addition to a8.
The formula will change with the row reference (now shown in this example) so the formula isnt static in the sense of the row reference but the formula is always the same outside of this (always summing B to D but just on different rows).
i have tried the solution proposed beginning on row 12 but i am not sure how to set it so it considers the formula on row 13 for all subsequent rows (i doubt i have the formula correct).

    Welcome to the forum.

Please update your form profile. I believe you have MS365 - 2008 is merely a release number.

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.

I don't understand what you really want. If someone changes an initial formula, do you want that cell to be highlighted? In this case you will need a VBA code as an "on change" event on the worksheet. Or in conditional formatting something like
    Formula: copy to clipboard

i have revised the initial question to further explain. i am not sure if your solution would work so let me know if i have the conditional formatting incorrect on the 2nd half per what you were referring to.

    Try the following:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

LIFESAVER, thanks! i also confirmed we dont need a dummy row with static formulas as the conditional format will not reference the initial row (in this example row 5) for the row 6 line. if row 5 is overriden, that wont "break the formula" on row 6. i think this is the approach as long as absolute references arent used.
