Someone sent me an Excel file with the gridlines non-visible. The data has no grid lines. Beside and below the data the gridlines respond to me changing color. I'm using MS Office 365 on Windows 10 - 64 bit. The gridlines are also dots instead of lines.
To diagnose this with certainty, please attach your file (see yellow banner at the top of the page). If you have sensitive data you may delete all of the data, since your issue is not related to data.
Please clarify: You said the gridlines are non-visible, but then you said they are dots. If they are dots they must visible....?
It is possible to suppress display of gridlines (View > Show Gridlines checkbox) or change the color, but it is not possible to make them dots.
If cells use a white fill color (or any fill color) you will not see gridlines around that cell.
If you are seeing dots they are almost certainly borders, not gridlines.
What is it you want that is different than what you have?

On the Active sheet the area with no gridlines has white borders & the gridlines for that sheet have been set to black, rather than automatic, which is why you get dotted lines.
If you want normal gridlines got File, Options, Advanced, scroll down to "Display options for this worksheet" & change the colour to automatic.
