    rounding values up and down

Hi guys just wondering if anyone could help me with this issue i have

Currently at work I use different spreadsheets to work out different ways to explosive destroy things

At the moment I am having a issue with the attached file. (referring to F12, E19 and E23)

When i work out boreholes with the pre determined drill length if the value drill length is equal to or lower then the expected depth hole it wont work it will ask me to drill holes on each side of the object - The data comes from sheet 1 and the values go up in 2s so when i changed it to use the actual length then drilling times would not populate if it was not a even number

the details in sheet 1 i refer to are AG - AJ

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: rounding values up and down

Sorry - not clear (to me).

    F12 is blank.

What results are you expecting in E19 and E23?

Nothing in your workbook is returning an error, and as I do not work in your field, I have no idea, looking at the data, what might be right and what might be wrong (although I am sure it jumps out at you).

Could you tell us (a) what your expected results are where you perceive them to be wrong and (b) talk us through, step-by-step and result by result, at least one calculation that you think is wrong?

Re: rounding values up and down

    Hi AliGW

    Sorry its not clear.

So at the moment if i use E12 my drill bit size and i put 2.7 a uneven number in there E19 will populate as a even number

If you look at sheet 1 the numbers in AH are what its referring too fro drill size and they are only even numbers.

If i changed my code in F19 to =CEILING(SUM(2*E10/3),0.1) and E19 =CEILING(IF(E12<F19,SUM(E10/2),F19),0.1) it then will allow E19 my depth of hole to be 2.7 m the length of my drill bit size E12 however then it come sup with error in E23 as E19 is not a even number the same as on sheet 1 is there a way for this to look for the next number?

    I hope this makes sense

"Whoosh," is the noise I hear as this flies right over my head!

Sorry, but I am utterly befuddled. Fear not, though - someone here will 'get' it, I am sure. Bear in mind that it's Sunday, and the footfall here is much lighter at the weekend. I am sure you will get help at some point. Hang on in there!

    Hi,

    I too am struggling.

As Ali said we need to have specific examples of different inputs and your manually calculated results of what answer you expect.
It doesn't help that mention is made of F19 which as Ali said is blank. I suspect that maybe you mean E19, i.e. hole depth you are calculating. If so that would of course create a circular reference. It may be that a macro is needed but let's understand the results you expect first.
