    Collapsing Workbook tabs

    Hi
Is there a way or an addin to collapse workbook tabs. I already use colour codes and sort the tabs. I would like to collapse some of the tabs onto place holders tabs and there expand it when I need to and then collapse it again.

Any suggestions or recommended addins etc

    Thank You

    Re: Collapsing Workbook tabs

If you have that many tabs that you would need to collapse them, then you probably have too many tabs, and probably need to revise your workbook design.

It is a common misconception that the more tabs you have (or the more complex your formulas are) them more impressive your workbook is

I know what you mean. But there are cases when many tabs are required that merely hold data rather than add to complexity.

In these cases it would be great to group the tabs away temporarily like one can do when grouping of rows and columns

    Re: Collapsing Workbook tabs

In those cases, it's usually down to poor data handling: in the vast majority of cases, the data across multiple tabs could be consolidated into ONE normalised tab with the addition of one or two extra columns.

What you are asking for isn't possible.

Again I agree but consolidation can only happen when there is a high level of similarity between the structure of the data on the various sheets.

If what I ask for isn't impossible then how would I go about ut

    I said it isn't possible.

I agree with Ford: your data almost definitely needs consolidation if you are grappling with the number of tabs that would require the sort of grouping you are suggesting.

I suppose you know that you can HIDE tabs? Would this help? You could record two macros: one to hide and another to unhide a selection of tabs. These could then be assigned to two buttons.
