Alternate formula for a scenario that uses Vlookup

    Hey guys,

I've attached a sample file to this thread where in the sheet "Summary", I've used VLOOKUP in the highlighted row to get the data from sheet "Data". I am just curious to know if there is any other way to get the same results without using VLOOKUP or INDEX and MATCH. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Well, the following does work, but it has absolutely nothing to recommend it

I'm mainly curious as to why you are looking for alternatives to VLOOKUP and INDEX / MATCH. Is there a particular problem that you are trying to preempt? My instinct would have been to use index/match both on the part number and the year. That avoids the assumption that your vlookup formula makes that 2017 is located in col-B on both worksheets. But if that was a concern then you could add a match() to your vlookup() formula to do the same thing if you wished.

Again I'm just curious why the question
