Taking a column and removing duplicates (and possibly alphabetizing at the same time)

    Say I have a column:
    bat
    giraffe
    elephant
    cat
    dog
    lion
    dog
    zebra
    elephant
    cat

I would like to make a column next to it that removes duplicates and alphabetize them (if not possible to do in the same step, it's fine to alphabetize them in a third column and step):

    bat
    cat
    dog
    elephant
    giraffe
    lion
    zebra

How can I do this? Thank you so much!

    Thank you!

It's adding a 0 in the last cell, I think it's because it's interpreting the blanks in that column (I'm using the reference A:A) as 0 and adding it as a unique entry.

Is there a way to specify it to grab only text, or only nonblank, in there?
