    Co-Authoring issues

    Hello all!

So, i have a co-authored workbook that has the following issues, after editing by one or both (only 2) users.

"New version available..we cannot apply changes made by someone else, then the reopen or learn more tab.

File is stored on Onedrive and both machines are logged into office 365

The barcode column is a font that generates a barcode which is printed and applied to the item.

I am at a loss as to why this message keeps coming up as, I believe we are complying to MS requirements.

    i have supplied an example.

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Co-Authoring issues

    Welcome to the forum.

In this case, the attachment really porovides us with no clues.

How EXACTLY is each of you accessing the file? Via a browser? Via the desktop? When you say OneDrive, do you in fact mean SharePoint? Is this over a network?

It is these details that will be relevant, not the contents of the workbook, unless you are saying that you are able to co-author other workbooks, but not this one.

    More details, please!

    Re: Co-Authoring issues

Hello Ali and thanks for offering help here!

1.We both access the file via desktop program.
    2. One drive is the storage space that comes with my 365 account, as you know, and the file is located on my personal onedrive space in a folder.
    3. I have not tried to co-author another work book. I will try to see if the issue can be narrowed down to the spreadsheet I'm working on.

Once again thanks for your time regarding this issue

    Re: Co-Authoring issues

    as you know,
    I do now ...

I'm not quite getting the set-up: how is your colleague accessing the file? Is he accessing a folder you've shared with him, or is he logged in using YOUR MS account details?

Can you please be more specific about the way that the other person is operating? In theory, if you have shared the file correctly and you are working from different user accounts, there shouldn't be a problem.

    Re: Co-Authoring issues

    Hello Ali

The other user has their own 365 account, and is working from the desktop app. I shared the file using the "share" button, top right, no problem sharing the file. However, I have started a new excel file to make sure all works and am adding the various elements of my original file to see how they effect the sharing and and saving process. One of the elements is a note appended to various cells, and in that note i use a fill effect to add an image, when this is done it all starts to go wrong and the saving and reopen dialogue appears, so I think I may of found the issue, or one of them, It may be that the image for the note is stored on the local computer of the users and not in the shared folder where the excel workbook is, this is my next port of call to test! I will keep you informed

    Re: Co-Authoring issues

This sounds likely - do you really need that image? There may be a workaround if you link to images that are stored in a sub-folder inside the folder you have shared with your colleague. I'd try this and see if it works.
