Excel takes too long inserting or deleting rows or colums

Hi everyone!
I will really appreciate if you can help me. At work we have an Excel that currently is taking too long inserting or deleting rows or columns (30 minutes aprox.) That's really too long but the thing is that previously the same file worked correctly, yes, we added like 10k rows and there was when it started taking longer than usual. Now we deleted those rows we added but the problem is not solved. We even have similar files with even more rows than the current one and those work normally.
The size of the file is 18 mb and it is not complex at all. It has normal formulas, doesn't have macros... Any idea what could be happenning?

it cold be one of many things... the first thing to look at is the computer health... ie. amount of free space on the drive that file is stored on, if the drive is defragmented, etc etc etc.

try the file on another computer

and try using a larger more complex file and see if you get similar or different results

One of this forum members thought me that before removing rows you should sort them first.
When you sort your rows, excel is doing removing rows much faster.
NOTE> Sorting may take some time, but less then removing them.

Excel still need optimization when doing this task, because it use only 1 core available to do the task instead of using all resources.

One faster solution is to use PowerQuery, it will do it in matter of seconds.
