How do I use a check box to get the correct numbers from certain cells

I would like to be able to enter my watts in C4 and C6 and have them copy in J4 and J6, the tough part is I need them to change to zero when the check box is checked and have J8 take the larger of the two numbers in C4 and C6 when the check box is checked. J8 needs to be zero when it is not checked.

I have made a change, I hope that it is good now. I am fairly new to this still and forget to add reputation but I will leave a note to remind myself. I am still learning how to do a lot of things on here. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Your title needs to briefly convey what you are trying to do, not how you think it should be done, what you think should be used or the fact that you don't know how to do it.

But my message does say what I am trying to do, not how I think it should be done. The title just say I need help, I don't fully understand what you are asking for. I have stated that I need help in the title and then gave a description of what I would like my spreadsheet to do, I never said anything about how it should be done.

Your title should say what you are trying to achieve, not that you need help. Almost everybody here needs help. Summarise what you want to do in your title.

I understand everyone needs help in here, but isn't the point of the description what people are looking to read and figure out if they can help? I'm not sure how to word it so it says exactly what I am trying to do. I have changed it again and I hope it is sufficient.

This has been about getting the TITLE right.

1. People will use the TITLE to decide whether or not they can help. Vague, generic titles do not convey anything useful.
2. This forum is also a database of help and tips for Excel users going forward: TITLES are used by search engines to locate relevant material.
3. The forum rule clearly states: "Title must briefly summarise your request."

These are just THREE very good reasons why your title needs to be appropriate. Please don't try to contradict us when we ask you to do something here: there is ALWAYS a good reason why we are asking you to do it. Thanks for your co-operation.

Based on my understanding of your very brief description and workbook:

J4 =IF(H8,"",SUM(C4*H4))

J6 =IF(H8,"",SUM(C6*H6))

J8 =IF(H8,MAX(C4,C6),"")

If this isn't it, then you will need to go into more detail about what you want and why.
