put a code on the record:
EmpID, Hrs, HrsType
1234, 40, HOL
3333, 10 , TOIL
The staff holiday record is as follows:
1 Jan 2nd Jan 3rd Jan 4th Jan Total Hols Total Toil
Name 1 Hols 7 Hols 7 Hols 7 Toil 2
Name 2
Name 3
I need to find out the formulae I put in to add up the total hours of hols taken in a month and the total hours of Toil that someone has taken.
I hope that makes sense. I am very new to excel as you can see. Thank you so much everyone.
Create a small workbook with sample data and expected results: see the yellow banner at top of thread on how to attach a workbook
If that takes care of your original question, please select Thread Tools from the menu link above and mark this thread as SOLVED.
I have tried to attach the worksheet but I am having difficulties. I apologise. I have copied and pasted the worksheet that I was trying to attach:
Jan Jan Jan Jan Jan Jan Jan Total hours Total hours
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 taken as taken as
Holidays Time owed
(Hol) (Toil)
Employee A Hol 7.5 Toil 3 Hol 7.5
Employee B
Employee C Hol 7.5 Toil 3
Employee D Hol 6 Toil 2
There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.
A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.
As long as you are not trying to attach a massive workbook, there should be no issue. Don't try to use the paper clip icon - it doesn't work. Follow the instructions given up top instead.
