Staff leave record

I am setting up a worksheet to record holiday hours and time in lieu hours. What formulae shall I use to differentiate between the holiday hours being taken and the TOIL hours. Thank you for your help

put a code on the record:
EmpID, Hrs, HrsType
1234, 40, HOL
3333, 10 , TOIL

The staff holiday record is as follows:
1 Jan 2nd Jan 3rd Jan 4th Jan Total Hols Total Toil
Name 1 Hols 7 Hols 7 Hols 7 Toil 2
Name 2
Name 3

I need to find out the formulae I put in to add up the total hours of hols taken in a month and the total hours of Toil that someone has taken.
