Poblem with IF Formula - Returning Error

    Hello Excell Community,

i recently began a course to refresh my excel skills, the last time i was in contact with excel i had no issues on the same topic.

    So here it is:
Im trying to create a simple If function that scans a row that has 2 contents "Complete" and " in Progress", the function i use is =IF(AE2="Complete","Yes","No"). When pressing enter i receive the error message "There is a problem with this formula".

I have the exact same issue when i tried out the official welcome to excel .xsl tutorial that came with the program.
The first sheet contains a instruction to =SUMIF(D11:D15,">50") as the 5th step, where i receive the exact same error.
This makes me think there is some compatibility or version issue.

I would appreciate if someone could help me figure it out.
My version is 2111 (Build 14701.20262 Click to Run)
Let me know if you need any additional info.

    In best regards

    Re: Simple Function Issue

what is your locale in Germany. In the UK we use , as a separator some countries ; does replacing that character make a difference
    =IF(AE2="Complete";"Yes";"No")

    Administrative Note:

    Welcome to the forum.

We would very much like to help you with your query, however the thread title does not really convey what your request is about. Tell us what you are trying to do, not how you think it should be done.

Please take a moment to amend your thread title. Make sure that the title properly explains your request. Your title should be explicit and not be generic (this includes function names used without an indication of what you are trying to achieve).

Please see Forum Rule #1 about proper thread titles and adjust accordingly. To edit the thread title, open the original post to edit and then click on Go Advanced (bottom right) to access the area where you can edit your title.

(Note: this change is not optional. As you are new here, I have done it for you this time.)

You probably need to replace commas with semi-colons for your locale:

    =IF(AE2="Complete";"Yes";"No")

    and:

    =SUMIF(D11:D15;">50")
