    Cannot edit Gannt calendar manually

    HI,

I have a project Gannt chart where I can scroll the annual calendar via an embedded scroll bar.
I want to be able to manually add text / change cell colour but when I do, the editing is locked in place so when I scroll the embedded scroll bar, the editing doesn't move with the calendar.

Using the main sheet scroll bar does move it along with the whole sheet but that doesn't help when I need to move the project calendar on.

How do I "unlock" those cells to allow me to edit them manually?

    Many thanks,

EXACTLY which cells are you talking about? I don't follow your description, sorry. The worksheet is not protected, so I don't even know what you mean by 'locked'.

Re: Cannot edit Gannt calendar manually

Apologies, I am referring to all of the cells underneath the dates, that auto populate from inputting start and end dates into the Gannt chart.
I can manually colour these cells, but the editing I do remains in place in the workbook when I scroll the project calendar, when what I want is those edited cells to scroll along when I move the scroll bar, so the editing remains in that cell at that date.

    Thank you.K

No, sorry - I simply can't visualise what you are describing. Someone else may get it.

Sorry I do not know how else to explain it. I have never come across this before.
Can you open the Excel sheet that was attached?

For example - I can edit the cells in the project calendar, here selected in red. When I then scroll with the circled scroll bar, the now red cells remain exactly where they are in the workbook, and do not move with the chart.
I want to be able to do this to highlight where we overrun or started early, or add small notes but I need them to remain with that particular date.

I did - but it does not show the issue that you have now shown in a screenshot! You had not added any cell fills to illustrate the problem.

The dates at the top are generated using a formula. I don't know exactly how the scrollbar control works, but it is making the formulae change their dates. You will see that the column headers remain static as you scroll, therefore ANYTHING that you add to that sheet will also remain static. You will need to add anything you want there via the regular input route, whatever that is (I don't have time to work out exactly how this is working - sorry).

In other words, without completely rewriting the way the spreadsheet works, you cannot do what you want in the way you want to do it.
