    Paste data in named range

    Dear forum,

To create a robust template used by other users, I would like to have your expert view on a part of the workflow.

My part: create from SQL a .csv file with fixed columns, dynamic rows and send to other users.
Their part: get this data in a pre-made template sheet in a named range.

    The problem:
    - the template is send in advance
    - we cannot use VBA
    - the user might only be familiar with copy and pasting
    - The user might not handle named ranges properly or correctly edit them

How do I get the most robust WF?

    Thank you in advance,

    Max

Re: Paste data in named range

If you save the CSV file in the same directory with the same name, you can create the query using SQL in MS-Query. Build your spreadsheet around the returned results. Then distribute it. When you want the users to run a new report, all they have to do is Refresh All.

This assumes that the users have access to the directory with the raw data.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
