Question How to show a specific range of weeks for several years?

I have this simple excel file consisting of weeks and number of orders. I want to sum 16 weeks for every year (16 weeks for 2000, 2001, etc). The problem is that the year and weeks are not properly stored. I really hope there is a better way than manually doing this (the original file is way bigger). In other files, instead of year and week, serial numbers are used but they are similar to dates, so I'm looking for a universal method that is not only applicable for dates. The sample file is attached.

    Administrative Note:

Members will tailor the solutions they offer to the version (NOT release number) of Office (Excel, NOT Windows) that you have. Please check that your forum profile is up-to-date in this respect. If you aren't sure, in Excel go to File | Account and report what it says below the MS logo at the top of that page. If your version is for Mac, please also state this. Thanks.

Which 16 weeks do you want to sum? Where in the sample workbook have you mocked up what you are looking for?

So, in the absence of any response, here's a complete guess. I am assuming you want the highest 16 weeks summing for each year.

    In F2 copied down:

    =SUM(LARGE(IF(--LEFT($A$2:$A$836,4)=$E2,$B$2:$B$836),ROW(INDIRECT("1:16"))))

I made for two years (2000 and 2001) available in row 18 and 71, respectively.

OK, well a 'thank you' might have been a good start!!! I'll take a look.

I've looked and I still see NO results mocked up anywhere.

You have identified week 17 in 2000 and week 18 in 2001 - what do you want to do with them?

Not clear at all - sorry.

Re: How to show a specific range of weeks for several years?

    That's another interpretation.

    So far we have:

    1. Mine - the maximum 16 weeks each year.
    2. Czeslaw's - the first 16 weeks each year.

    Here's the brief:

I want to sum 16 weeks for every year (16 weeks for 2000, 2001, etc).
There has still been no clarification of what this actually means. Which 16 weeks? Has either of us guessed correctly?
