Angry Recreating a waterfall chart in Excel

Hi all. I'm struggling to recreate a waterfall chart in Excel and could really use some help!

On the image at the link below, you will see the chart that I would like to recreate. Sorry for the link - couldn't find a way to attach an image for some reason!

On this chart, we start on the far left of the x-axis, what we will call column 1 which has a value of 7 and no associated change units, so everything is colored brown.

As we move from left-to-right, we next see that column 2 has a height of seven units, or the total height of brown units in the preceding column, with two change units highlighted in green. Column 3 has a height of five units, with 3 change units highlighted in pink, and so forth.

On the attached spreadsheet, you'll see that I've got the starting and ending values for the change unit highlights isolated, but I don't know where else to go from there in terms of recreating the chart. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Recreating a waterfall chart in Excel

I can get columns 1:3 and 5:7 but not 4.
    Formulas are:
    For not changed units: =IF(ABS(D4)=MIN(ABS(D4),ABS(E4)),SIGN(D4),SIGN(E4))*MIN(ABS(D4),ABS(E4))
    For the changed units: =IF(SIGN(D4)=SIGN(E4),D4-E4,D4-0)*SIGN(D4)
Perhaps you or one of the other contributors can think of a way to display column 4 the way you want.
