Lightbulb Is this concept possible on excel?

I am an engineering student doing some vacation work at a manufacturing company. I am busy setting up a "Production Instruction" Sheet from where a person can configure a product which then displays in the "Item code" cell.

    Please see the attached screenshot.

My product configurator consists of category, product, specifications, material and colour. These are drop down-lists from which I can choose a combination. Every drop down item has an associated code for witch eventually an 11 digit code is formed by concatenating the individual codes from the respective categories.

The "Item code" cell is then set = to the "unique product code" cell to have it the show in the production instruction lists. This I have managed to do.

Now, when I do a new configuration, the code obviously changes and then the code in the Item code cell also changes. I would like to have it stay there and when a new configuration is done, to display it's unique code below the previous code in the list. Is there any way this could be done? Would I have to use vba? ( For witch I have very limited experience). Or are there any work arounds?

I hope you can see what I am trying to explain. Any feedback would help a-lot! Thanks in advance :)

    Welcome to the forum.

From what I understand, you will need VBA for your requirements - shall I move the thread for you?

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

    Administrative Note:

Members will tailor the solutions they offer to the version (NOT 'latest') of Office (Excel, NOT Windows) that you have. Please check that your forum profile is up-to-date in this respect. If you aren't sure, in Excel go to File | Account and report what it says below the MS logo at the top of that page. If your version is for Mac, please also state this. Thanks.
