Bar Chart Axis Max and Minimum

Hello all, I just got a spreadsheet from the european division at our company with this gantt chart, I need the chart below to adjust the range of dates shown to reflect the dates input in the Start date, and finish date cells. It needs to show dates that are more current and in the next few months and in addition that change dynamically over the years accordingly. I'm having a hard time figuring out why exactly I can't adjust the range on it, even manually, so if you see what's wrong let me know. Thank you I appreciate any input!

I could not replicate the problem. I have no trouble bringing up the format axis dialog and changing the axis minimum and maximum values.

hmm, whenever I edit the axis minimum it just snaps back to the previous value and the window stays the same

Only two things come to mind:

    1) Your sample file is a .xlsx file that cannot have macros in it. I'm assuming that this accurately represents your real file, but is it possible that your real file is macro enabled and has a macro that undoes your attempts to change?

    2) While not usually with the format axis dialog, there are some dialogs where I occasionally find myself making changes, then clicking on the "cancel" rather than "OK" button to dismiss the dialog and lose my changes. Is it possible something similar is happening for you?

No I made sure earlier that I was hitting ok instead of cancel, but no the original also has no macros, I will keep looking into it, I'm not sure why this will not let me edit the range of dates.

Re: Bar Chart Axis Max and Minimum

When you edit the max/min, exactly how are you editing the axis values? I know that my older version of Excel (should be the same in 2010, if you are still using 2010 as indicated by your profile) cannot accept "date" entries in the format axis dialog for a value axis. If I want the axis to start on 1 Jan 2022, I cannot enter "1/1/2022" or similar in the format axis dialog. I have to figure out the correct serial number outside of the dialog (usually I just enter the date into a spreadsheet cell formatted as fixed with 0 decimal places to get 44562), then I can enter the correct serial number in the format axis dialog.

I do not know if newer versions of Excel have fixed this limitation or not. I know that LO Calc is not limited in this way, but can readily accept date entries in its format axis dialogs.

Yeah I did that as well, it won't accept any new values, I think I may be just starting the gantt chart over from scratch, that way I can write some macros for it and it Should be easier that way.
