Exclamation File Saving as Read Only & Issues with Date Formats in .CSV Files

    Hello!

I am using Microsoft 365 and I have 3 problems:

    1. Let's say that I download a CSV file from Google Ads. After I edit it and save as Excel Workbook, the file is READ ONLY every time. Why? Before the program ran without this error.

    2. After I download a CSV file from Google Ads, it does not read properly the dates (instead of 12/14/2022, there are random numbers + month like "60 december"). Example below:

    Screenshot (86).png

    3. How can I change the separator from "." to "," ?

    How can I solve them?

    Thank you!

    Re: Excel problems (beginner)

    Welcome to the forum

Please attach a sample CSV(not a picture or pasted copy). Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

    Hello.

I attached the csv file. The problem is with H and I columns.

This is how it looks like on my desktop:

    Screenshot (87).png

This is how how it should look like (a friend of mine that works as Google Ads specialist sent me):

    Thank you!

// EDIT: If it helps, I live in Romania and I am using Windows 11.

    Hello!

Yes, this is what I want regarding the H and I column.

    What did you do?

Also, regarding your photo, if I save the CSV file, it is saved as READ ONLY and I don't want that. How should I change that?

    Thank you so much!

    This is a Power Query,
Data tab - Show Queries - double click on the table on the right side (it will open Power Query Editor) then Advanced Editor

    then change path to yours

    Administrative Note:

    Welcome to the forum.

We would very much like to help you with your query, however the thread title does not really convey what your request is about. Tell us what you are trying to do, not how you think it should be done.

Please take a moment to amend your thread title. Make sure that the title properly explains your request. Your title should be explicit and not be generic (this includes function names used without an indication of what you are trying to achieve).

Please see Forum Rule #1 about proper thread titles and adjust accordingly. To edit the thread title, open the original post to edit and then click on Go Advanced (bottom right) to access the area where you can edit your title.

(Note: this change is not optional. As you are new here, I have done it for you today, but please acknowledge that you have understood the issue.)

    Hello!

Thank you, I aknowledge the rules.

    sandy666:

I read again and it works this time.

    2 questions:

    1. Is there a way to make this process automatic every time?

    2. If not, I have to put that code in every file?

Thank you, you helped me a lot!

    @1
    a) you can try using From Folder option and import all csvs at once (if they have the same structure)
    b) you can using this file as template, I mean import single csv, save as eg. file0001, then change path to the next csv (you know how) and import second fille, save as file0002 and so on...
