yes
something like
countifs(range, cell for duplicate , range with values , ">"&10 )>1
A sample sheet would help here
The forum does allow for spreadsheets to be uploaded direct to the forum -
Please see the Yellow Banner at the top of the page explaining how to attach a sample spreadsheet
A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.
Here are the instructions, found at the top of the page again
Post a small Excel sheet (not a picture) showing realistic & representative sample data WITHOUT confidential information (10-20 rows, not thousands...) and some manually calculated results. For a new thread (1st post), scroll to Manage Attachments, otherwise scroll down to GO ADVANCED, click, and then scroll down to MANAGE ATTACHMENTS and click again. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Thanks for your reply.
I have uploaded the worksheet. In Column B, I would like to use conditional formatting to highlight those Employee Ref which are repeating.
(This means, I am wanting to measure the frequency of sickness taken)
However, I do not want to highlight those subtotal numbers.
The outcome is, I want cells B16:B21 highlighted, but by using conditional formatting.
Any suggestions on how I should do this?
Your help is much appreciated!
Thanks.
Please find attached also the end result that I want.
I manually highlight the cells myself, but the idea is to use conditional formatting to do so.
Thanks!
is that an accurate representation of the real data .......
working on, as a bit difficult to isolate just those items ....
But as it maybe a complex Logical test , i want to make sure , any formula will apply to the real data
Not real data at all. Just an exercise.
oh, okJust an exercise.
so homework of somekind
I wont answer in full , as per the rules - https://www.excelforum.com/forum-rul...rum-rules.html
BUT as i say, i have not found a solution yet,3. We wont do your homework for you, but we will help guide you
the sort of things I have been doing is using
AND()
Looking at Employee ref being above a certain number - so the cells below with a 1 in dont count, in fact i used 100
to isolate the Employee ID as VALID
AND(B3>100,....
BUT then looking to other factors
i have not fully solved yet, All but the first entry - so have a look at how to make that range unique , by using some of the other values , below above
I can get all of the range - BUT the 1st value is also include - otherwise , I seem to miss the first or last value in that range

Thanks, it is an exercise, however i don't need to submit it to any teacher.
Are you still going to use Countifs in your solution?

No I cant see how that would help nowAre you still going to use Countifs in your solution?
having done some other things , I remembered a simple OR i used many many years ago on a system to check if the numbers where all together
So the pattern is all the ID's are next to each other - so the cell above or the cell below would be the same .........
