    Re: To Add multiple or different DATEDIF cells

    So you want the date differences from E3 - F3, E4 - F4, E5 - F5 etc in years, months and days ALL in the same cell?

    can you mock up a sample workbook and upload it WITH expected results (hand entered and not having to be complete) so we can see what you have and what you want?

    Re: To Add multiple or different DATEDIF cells

    Interesting, I've been scratching my head trying to figure out what answer you are expecting, AskMeAboutExcel's answer yields 8 years 0 months and 26 days.
    But I wonder if adding up the days, months and years is the correct way? I approached it differently in taking the min of col E and max of col F and applying the datedif formula to those which yields 11 years 2 months and 2 days.
    It is your data so you know what you are looking for, if you want my method I put this in col E =MIN(E3:E7) and this in col F =MAX(F3:F7) then this formula to calculate the overall date difference... =DATEDIF(E9,F9,"Y") & " Years " & DATEDIF(E9,F9,"YM") &" Months " & DATEDIF(E9,F9,"MD") &" Days "
    For what it is worth.

    Good point Sam, interesting that we interpreted the question differently. A good reminder that it's best to show the expected result in example worksheets...

    Re: To Add multiple or different DATEDIF cells

    I believe that AskMeAboutExcel have done it correctly ,
    if we do simple math calculations :

    1 = 8 months and 20 days
    2= 4 years, 8 months and 13 days
    3= 5 months and 20 days
    4 = 7 months and 5 days
    5 = 1 year, 6 months and 29 days

    SUM Years + Months + Days = 5 Years + 34 Months + 86 Days
    = 5 + 2( years from months) Years+ 10 (2 months of days) Months+ 26 Days
    = 7 Years (12months from months) +26 Days
    =8 Years 0 Months 26 Days
