    Handy to do list

    Good day all,

Would like to have a to do list or text box that follows/is visible wherever I am on a spreedsheet.

Can this be set up some how in excel?

    Administrative Note:

Is your forum profile showing the Excel PRODUCT that you need this to work for?

Members will tailor the solutions they offer to the Office PRODUCT (Excel, NOT Windows) that you have. Please check that your forum profile is up-to-date in this respect. If you aren't sure, in Excel go to File | Account and report what it says below the MS logo at the top of that page. If your product is for Mac, please also state this.

The three most recent Excel products are Excel 2019, Excel 2021 and MS365 - if you are using MS365, please give this name along with the version number in your profile (e.g. MS365 Version 2306). This is in the About Excel section further down the Account page.

    Thanks.

If your MS 365 is version 2403 or newer, then you should have the new checkboxes feature. Look on the Insert ribbon in the Controls section. You can use these to create a checklist.

Can you explain in more detail exactly what you mean? How do you want this to work?

Do you mean that you want to have some sort of form with checkboxes/to-do that floats around so it is always within view if you scroll the sheet?

It may depend on what channel/program you are on. I have 365/2403 and I don't have it. I am not in the Insider program or Beta channel.

I read somwhere that someone on 2403 had it and they were not on the Beta Channel, but becoming an Insider or joining the Beta Channel is only a mouse click away!

    Re: Handy to do list

    Thank you for the feedback.

I have a spreadsheet thak I use almost like diary set up. Everyday I add certain information to this spreadsheet.

I would like a text box or, as you have mentioned, a checkbox which will float as I move down the spreadsheet.

I have looked at your suggestion of inserting controls from controls tab, but cant seem to find what I am looking for.

You cannot have a checkbox that will float down the spreadsheet with you, unfortunately. The checkboxes I mentioned are on the Insert ribbon.

The only suggestion I can make is that you set something up in the top five rows and then freeze the rows.

Maybe create a userform with the ShowModal property set to False and place the controls there? That will stay visible and independent of the position in the worksheet.

Maybe Watch Window can do the job? Formulas > Watch Window.
