    GST Calculator Question

    Hey everyone,

I’m trying to understand how to use a GST calculator for my small business. I need to know how to calculate the GST inclusive and exclusive prices correctly.

If I have an item priced at $100, how do I determine the GST amount and the total price including GST?

Also, what if I already have the total price including GST, how do I find out the original price before GST was added?

By immediately posting again to your thread you have removed it from the unanswered threads list - not a good idea, for future reference.

    Administrative Note:

Is your forum profile showing the Excel PRODUCT that you need this to work for? 0.8 is NOT an Excel version. You have been asked to sort this out before - please do not ignore the request this time.

Members will tailor the solutions they offer to the Office PRODUCT (Excel, NOT Windows) that you have. Please check that your forum profile is up-to-date in this respect. If you aren't sure, in Excel go to File | Account and report what it says below the MS logo at the top of that page. If your product is for Mac, please also state this.

The three most recent Excel products are Excel 2019, Excel 2021 and MS365 - if you are using MS365, please give this name along with the version number in your profile (e.g. MS365 Version 2306). This is in the About Excel section further down the Account page.

    Thanks.

    Re: GST Calculator Question

Given GST is equivalent to VAT

if GST=15% and Price ex GST is $100 the Price with GST=100*(1+0.15) or GST=100*(1+GST%)

Price with GST =X then price ex GST=X/(1+GST%)
