probably simple question - maximum number of columns

i used all the columns allowable in excel (either 128 or 256, i forget; the column is IV). is there anyway to get more columns? its hard to believe such a small number of columns were allowed, though i can understand that probably 99% of all users use more rows than columns (i think allowable rows are something like 60,000). thanks folks.

I believe it is still 256. Never saw anything about adding extra.

right now i have the column width set at 0.5 to emulate a very small grid. i guess i could double that at 1.0 which would double the width.

As far as I know, no matter what width you set your columns, you will still only have 256 columns on a worksheet. To go beyond 256 columns you would need to continue over onto worksheet number 2, linking 2 worksheets.
