When you try to sort certain data by selecting the cells, but leaving
adjacent cells unselected, you get a "sort warning" asking if you would like
to expand the selection. How do you stop this from happening?

If you are selecting cells in one column or row only you will get this
message.
I have never found a way to prevent it.
Hopefully we both can learn something here.

Hi
Clicking on one the sort button on the toolbar will not diplay the message. If you have more than one column, hit the Tab key to select whick column will be sorted.
Hope that helps!

If I selected the range you want sorted (more than one column and more than one
row), then xl2002 didn't prompt me.
If I just selected one row or one column, I got the prompt.
(But I'm happy that prompt is there!)

When using the toolbar sorting buttons in excel 2000, I don't get any prompt, whether I have one column or multiple columns selected with data in adjacent columns, however I am limited to simple column sorting only!
