Syntax to use either/or between 2 Cells; and protection?

What I'm trying to do is calculate % returns on investmensts. I want to be able to enter in the actual dollar from my return in one cell and it calculate my % ROI in another cell. OR instead of entering the acutal dollar amount; I would like to enter the % ROI and it calculate my dollar amount for the earnings. This numbers will both reference a differnt cell - which would be my initial investment.

Also - Once I have my formulas created; how can I protect the Formula Only, but be able to change the numbers in each formula? Once I get the formula in the cells and I go back to enter the data (numbers) my numbers are over writing my formulas! Very frustrating

Any advice would be greatly appreicated.

    Best Regards,
    LouRob

Please refer to my reply to you in your other post. There is really no need to double post in this NG.
