    RE: custom toolbar not saved

A .xlb extension indicates a Toolbar file, but, AFAIK, it is created by the
program when you customize toolbars/menus. You might want to check out the
    Help Topic

"Use custom toolbars from earlier Excel versions"

Make backup copies of this file any time you do any customizing so you can
copy it back after a reinstall of the program. Otherwise, the customization
you do may be lost if you re-install the program.

If using Excel '03 you can also Attach a custom toolbar to a workbook file.
Not sure if '02 & earlier support this feature.

    1) Open the workbook to which you want to attach a toolbar.
    2) On the Tools menu, click Customize, and then click the Toolbars tab.
    3)Click Attach.
    4) Click the custom toolbar you want to attach, and then click Copy.
Note Be sure to save the workbook after attaching a toolbar.

You might want to consider creating a file just for the purpose of attaching
all of your custom menus & toolbars to it, keep it in a safe place.

    Hope this is useful |:>)
