Number formatting mystery - how to?

I am not able to change a negative currency amount format to have parentheses around it.

I go to Format-cells-number then go to currency and then in the box that has negative numbers, the option to have them in parentheses simply isn't there! Anyone? My accountant is driving me crazy!

Try a custom format.

Goto Format>Cells... and select Custom and enter something like this:

£#,##0;(£#,##0).
