Talking getting the right formula for a novice

    Good afternoon-

My delima is that i have rows of numbers (grades), that I want to formulate into a letter grade from 100-90 = A, 89-80 = B, and so forth. The total value of my points for a 100=A score would be 750. I dont even know how to start this formula. Will anyone help me with this?

    Thanks,

    Leif

    Hi!

    Perhaps a lookup table?
Put the following in two contiguous columns. I will assume they are columns L and M starting in row 1.

    0 J
    10 I
    20 H
    30 G
    40 F
    50 E
    60 D
    70 C
    80 B
    90 A
    100 A

These are my best guesses as to what your posted grade boundaries are intended to be.

    Put a grade (0 to 100) in A1
    Put =VLOOKUP(A1,$L$1:$M$11,2,TRUE) in B1
This should show you the letter grade you seek.

I need more explanation of your reference to 750 points = 100....
If you are scaling marks to fit them to a range 0 to 100, how are you doing it?
