Font color on worksheet name tab mysterious color change

I am using Excel for mac from Office X. Wierd thing happened and I can't figure out how to fix it. the names for all the worksheets in a workbook without my prompting changed the color of their fonts.

They were sitting there in the tabs at the bottom of the window in beautiful black, now they are yellow and impossible to read. How the heck to do I change it back and any idea what happened?

I just quit excel, and when I opened up again the names of the sheets was back to black...... GREMLINS!

Right click on the tab and select "tab colour", certainly works in 2003, not sure about earlier versions
