Arrow Can A Spreadsheet Get Any Wider?

I realize this may be an elementary question to most, but I hope there's a fix.

I'm making a spreadsheet that requires about 10 more columns (beyond column number 256 --IV) than the normal new Excel file allows (to the would-be column JE). Is there any way for me to extend the sheet and add more columns?

    Thanks.

    Good evening Rick B

Unfortunately not. Excel is limited to 256 columns and there are no workarounds or hacks to avoid this as it is hard coded into the program. It is a fairly big limitation and the source of constant gripes from users but Microsoft have just seen fit to ignore it so far. If you want to use Quatro Pro, that utilises 18,278 columns, as does the spreadsheet in the Microsoft Office Web Compenents - but you do lose a lot of functionality.

    Thanks DominicB. That stinks, though.
