W Exp needs easier option for DEFAULT Explorer Bar ie "Folders"

It is difficult to set a default Windows Explorer view.
When I open WE I always want Explorer Bar to "Folders" and View to Details.
When I click on a folder directly I want the settings for that folder, but
if I want Explorer, I want my preferred default.

RE: W Exp needs easier option for DEFAULT Explorer Bar ie "Folders"

Hi, I'm quite late with this reply but I just joined the group, because part
of that problem's bugging me too.

Maybe I can help with the other 50%:
To set the default view to "Details" open a folder and choose the setting
you like (details etc.), then go "Tools > Folder Options" and mark "set to
Windows Classic Folder", not Web Content, then in " Folder Options > View"
click "Like current folder", and "yes". That will set ALL folders to be
opened in the preferred "details" view next time.
Then go to "Folder Options > View" again and mark "Remember each folder's
view settings" (bottom of list), and that should take care of the individual
folder settings, like thumbnails for picture folders.
It does the job with Windows2000, hope it helps.

But I never figured out how to "default" the FOLDER display either! I always
have to click the icon to get the folder view. To make it a bit easier, I've
moved that button to the far left corner of the taskbar that it's the first
one and I don't have to search among the icons (I operate the mouse with the
    left hand ;-).
BTW, to customize the icon-bar, right-click it and choose "customize".

I agree, Microsoft should invest a bit more efforts that users can adjust
the file-handling to their needs and wishes (I'm still working on how to
change that darn default "My Web Sites" for Frontpage 2003. WinWord and Excel
bot have a "Default File Location" option, why not Frontpage2003?

Though the Virus-and-Snoop-builders definitely are happy with this "My
Documents"-de-folder, where they can pull out all the interesting stuff by
    "default" :-(

    Keep smiling!
