    Pivot Chart Legend

    Hello,

When I create a pivot chart that is simply a single category field and a
single data items field (no series fields), I get the simple column chart
that I want. This chart has 'Total' as its title and 'Total' as the legend
label. How can I modify the legend label to something more descriptive?

You can delete the chart title, or change it to something more descriptive.
You can't change the label in the legend, but since there's only one
series, you could change the chart options so the legend doesn't show.

Re: Pivot Chart Legend - one way to fix

    Hi,
Late comer as this is the only reference to this problem on the net I've been able to find!

So this is apparently a bug if you create a simple single value pivot chart you can not have the correct series field name, just "Total"?

    That is pathetic!

The only way to fix it is to delete the "Total" legend and insert a shape and put the field name inside it, then position the shape onto the chart.

Rather sad to do such workaround for such a simple chart.

    Hi,
And then of course there is a better way for the long term, to link the textbox to the cell containing the field name you need ...

All in all a problem that's been around since 2007 and not been addressed.
