    Hi

Try to reset your menubar first
    View>Toolbars .. customize
Select the Worksheet Menu Bar and click on reset

If this not work try this

Maybe you have a corrupt or bloated xlb file *normal* size is < 30 kb.
The .xlb file has all Toolbar customization in it.

    1. Close Excel
    2. Do a search for .xlb in Windows (Use: search hidden files and folders)
    3. Rename or delete the .xlb file or files (In 2002 the name = Excel10.xlb)
    4. Start Excel

Deleting the file or renaming will do no harm on your system
Excel will create a new one for you.
(You lost your customization remember that)

If you make your own toolbars or add buttons to the others
this file is important (backup it so you can restore it)

The reason I ask is because there was an issue in Version 2002(I believe)
since fixed by one of the Service Packs.

Perhaps you have entered more than 53 characters in the file path to your
default file location in Tools>Options>General or in the Autorecovery path.

Try re-naming folders in the path to come up with less than 53 characters then
    re-enter your new path.

You will have to edit the path in Windows Explorer or in the registry in order
to change the path if you can't get in through Tools>Options.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Excel\Options>Default Path

    Enter your new path here.

No message...when I try to click on "options" from the tools menu, absolutly
nothing happens. I tried adding another options item to the my tool bar and
still nothing. I've reset the tool bars, deleted the .xlb file but still
    nothing!

When you start Excel in Safe mode do you have the same problem then

    On the Windows Taskbar
    Start>Run

    and type this

    Excel.exe /Safe

    Or like this
hold the Ctrl key down when you open Excel.
It will ask you if you want to open in Safe mode

Re: Options (under the tools menu) won't open when clicked in Exce

    Hi Dana

Then it is a Add-in or workbook in your xlstart that is the problem

    Tools-Addins and uncheck all Addins.
Write down which ones were selected.
Now close Excel and then reopen.

If you don't get the error, then one of the Addins was causing the problem.
Add them back one at a time, closing and opening Excel each time until you find it.

If this didn't stop the error, then the problem is a file in your xlStart directory.
Any file in there Is loaded when you start Excel.
Remove the files out of that folder and open Excel to see if the error is gone.
If it is then add them back one at a time, closing and opening Excel each time until you find it
