Question Relative reference to another file

    Hi-
I am trying to create a formula with a relative reference to a cell that is in another workbook. I can only find information on relative referencing within a workbook.
I am trying to use the ..\ concept to go up one level to find the file works in Excel, but keep getting formula errors.
    Any input is greatly appreciated!

If all workbooks in question are supposed to be open then you can use
INDIRECT, if not you need a UDF

    ftp://members.aol.com/hrlngrv/

look for pull.zip, then do a Google search on how to apply it or go here

    http://xcell05.free.fr/

select English pages and download and install morefunc, it has help files as
well, for this you would use

    INDIRECT.EXT

Doesn't work, a least through 2002. The cell will always show
the full path, but will save relative only if it's in the same or
lower level directory. If it's on the same drive, it saves from the
first \. Regardless, if the file is closed, enter the full path. If the
    file
is open, enter the full path or no path. Excel will figure out what
    from the path to save.
If they could get it to understand paths better they might also
get it to understand the idea of 2 files in different paths with the
    same filename.
