    Unhappy Find & replace

    Hi

I have excel 2003 and I want to replace certain characters within a selected range of cells. Excel will find, say 5 matching cells and then I select replace all with a different character. Then excel decides to change every matching character within the sheet. Can anybody help me to stop this happening.

    Hi Guy,

Make sure you only select the range of cells that you want to change the characters in and then Excel will only find and replace within that range.

    RE: Find & replace

Select the range of cells you want to change prior to running find/replace.

I have done that. It finds within the range but then replaces all found within the sheet.

    Don't hit Find All.
    Find Next is OK.

    Hi Guy,

Once you have selected the data:

Find > Find what > Replace Tab > Replace with (if anything) > Replace >
clicked as many times as needed to cycle through your selection.
