    Sorting

Im trying to do a really simple 'Sort' and its not going as expected!

I have two columns with lots of entries in it, a lot of which are the same. They are basically artists and there songs.

I am trying to sort them to see where I have dentries the same. Some of the entries in column A are in Bold and always remain at the bottom of the sort, for example:

    Fray All at Once
Fray How to Save a Life
    Fray All at Once

If I sort them by column A and B then I thought that the bold one should move up, but it dosen't, it raims as it is!
    Any ideas?

    Re: Sorting

at the first line the space between the words are not actually space but some other Character
try to re-enter the text or use the formula to use the space instead of the charecter
    =SUBSTITUTE(A1,CHAR(160),CHAR(32))

assume your text is in A1

    Re: Sorting

    Hello,

the blank or space after the word "Fray" in the last cell is a non-breaking space, the ascii character 160. A regular space is character 32. Therefore, the sort will keep that cell at the bottom of the list.

You could do a find and replace and replace all non-breaking spaces with regular spaces. In the "Find What" field of the find and replace dialogue, hold down the Alt key and enter 160 with the number pad of the keyboard. In the "Replace with" type a regular space. Then click "Replace all" and sort again.

    cheers,
