    date auto format

Hi all, sorry if i'm repeating something that has allready been covered but I can't find it anywhere on the forums.

I've got a problem with excel automatically changing numbers that I cut and paste from the web into date's

For example the the data in a cell may be "5/2" and I want it to remain as this but excel thinks it's a date and changes it to "5-Feb" (Another example would be "10/11" being changed to "10-Nov")

I can't change the format of the source data as this is cut and paste directly from a web page, is there anything I can do to turn off this auto format feature?

    Thanks

    Re: date auto format

You could format the cells in the worksheet as text before pasting.
