Automatic division by 1000

I have Office 2000 installed on my PC. Whenever I write any number in a cell, it is automatically divided by 1000. I have checked the format/cells/number. Any idea how can i get back to normal working sheet?

Go to Tools>Options>Edit and uncheck the Fixed Decimal box
