    Excel and Laptops

I have been developing data processing algorithms using Excel VBA on my pc and want to update to a laptop for reasons of mobility, but am unsure about runtimes. My Athlon 1.4Ghz (256RAM) runs a test file in 12 secs using Excel 2000 (17secs with Excel 2003). No graphics are used.

I need the laptop to run at least as fast so can anyone identify the relevent parameters, point me at a benchmark performance table, ar recommend a siutable machine please.
    Thanks

To be honest you would probably be unable to find a new laptop that is as
    slow as your current machine.

Maybe I should have made it clearer. On the face of it you would think my Athlon 1.4Ghz pc would be old hat but it somehow manages to run my Excel test file rather quick. A friend's Evesham Dominator Athlon 64 3500+ (2.21 GHz) (1024RAM) managed 12 secs and his Evesham Evolution P4 3.2 GHz (512 RAM) only 17 secs. (both using exzcel 2003).
To put my question another way, which laptop could be expected to match the performance of the Dominator?
    Thanks
