    Opening New Workbook separately

My excel did this but a couple days ago it changed for some reason. When a new workbook was opened it would open a entire new excel session. Now the workbook opens within the same session. It's drives me nuts, can someone help me get it back to the way it once was?

How did you open that new workbook--by double clicking in windows explorer???

Sometimes one of these works when you're having trouble with double clicking on
    the file in windows explorer:

    Tools|Options|General|Ignore other applications (uncheck it)

    --- or ---

    Close Excel and
    Windows Start Button|Run
    excel /unregserver
    then
    Windows Start Button|Run
    excel /regserver

The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's
    factory defaults.
