Question "too many cell formats" error

    Hello-
Wondering if anyone has run into this error. I have a large spreadsheet (7.7MB, 41 worksheets). I just starting getting this "too many cell formats" error. Is there any way around this... maybe a parameter that can be changed or something?
    thanks for any ideas.

The error is pretty self explanitory, but a 'cell format' is counted if
anything is different font, size, bold, colour, etc, etc

I would save a copy of the workbook as often this is a pre-cursor o
corruption and then try to use Format>Styles. This way if using say a newly
created 'bold number' style (as in word), you will be sure that all bold
numbers use the same 'cell format' and you will naturally cut them back. It
may take a little time but should cure the issue

    Some info:

XL: Error Message: Too Many Different Cell Formats
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=213904

I'd remove some of the formatting. (maybe format per column??)

If it gets too bad, you may not be able to reopen your workbook. If that
happens, then a few people have posted that they could open the file in
OpenOffice, then remove some of the formatting, save it and then excel would
    open that file ok.

    http://www.openoffice.org, a 60-65 meg download or a CD
