I have been using EXcel for many years and have just downloaded the newer version. I have tried pretty much most number formatting techniques I know but it still hasn't solved the problem. Can anyone help so I can stop growling?

Say thanks to those who have helped you by clicking Add Reputation star.
Display the Excel Options dialog box. (In Excel 2007 click the Office button and then click Excel Options. In Excel 2010 and later versions display the File tab of the ribbon and then click Options.)
At the left of the dialog box click Advanced.
Under Editing Options, make sure that the check box for "Automatically Insert a Decimal Point" is cleared.

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.
Thankyou so much, I actually found it under 'Preferences', then 'Edit' and changed 'Display this number of decimal places' from 2 to zero. It seems to have done the trick! I can stop growling now!!!
